Filter Membrane
The filter membrane from HAWACH has two types: round disc and roll types, both of the membranes can be used for filtration and sterilization of liquids, gas, and other samples.
Hawach filter membrane has a smooth surface, light texture, high porosity, and uniform microporous structure, so the membranes have the characteristics of a fast flow rate and are not easy to adsorb. They can remove all micro-organisms and particles reliably, without any effects on the ingredients during the whole process, and the quality meets the standard.
Application of membranes with different pore sizes:
- 0.22μm membrane filter: It can remove very fine particles in samples and mobile phases; it can meet the requirements of 99.99% sterilization stipulated by GMP or Pharmacopoeia;
- 0.45μm membrane filter: It can filter out most bacteria and microorganisms; conventional samples and mobile phase filtration can meet general chromatographic requirements;
- 0.8-1.0μm: It removes most insoluble particles and is suitable for the analysis and detection of samples with relatively low requirements such as ultraviolet light. Tested Oral Solid Dosage Dissolution Testing.
- 1-5μm: It is able to filter larger particles of impurities, or for the pretreatment of difficult to handle turbid solutions, it can be filtered with a 1-5μm membrane first, and choose a corresponding membrane to filter it.
According to the application, the filter membrane can be divided into an aqueous membrane and an organic membrane:
Aqueous: Microporous membrane is used in aqueous solution, but it is not resistant to organic solvents. It is a hydrophilic microporous membrane.
Organic: The microporous membrane is relatively hydrophobic, but it is suitable for organic solutions. It is a hydrophobic microporous membrane also called hydrophobic filter paper. For organic systems, there is no problem in filtering aqueous solutions, but conversely, water-based ones may be dissolved by organic solvents and are not suitable for the filtration of organic systems.
The relationship between the aqueous membrane and organic membrane: The so-called water system and organic system are divided according to the material of the filter membrane, and are respectively suitable for filtering aqueous solutions (for life science) and organic solutions (for chemical applications).
